Want to go!!! Nowhere was this more evident that in the arts, particularly in the image of women. On one hand, there was the liberated, self-confident, fun-loving ‘modern girl’, who dressed in Western fashion and decorated her home in Western style; on the other, the ‘good wife’ and ‘wise mother’, who epitomised traditional Japanese femininity.

coffee cup @ work

Coffee cup. Definitely. Because I can drink coffee from it. I took the photo from my (new replacement) mobile and it uploaded sideways. Sorry. Meanwhile I have Moo cards with photos of Japan stuck to the side of my computer, because I always wish I was on holidays when I'm at work...

When you travel, do you use a guidebook so that you're well prepared, or do you go without much prior knowledge so that you're surprised?

The only time i've really traveled was when Dan and I went to Japan last October. I read the lonely planet millions of times, and wrote down places that I'd like to go. But when we got there we just got ourselves lost in the cities, and that was great. We did end up going to many of the places I wanted to go, but there wasn't a strict regiment, it was just whether or not we ended up there...
SO while we are here, what a good excuse to post my photos of the trip...
